Inresponse, Oregon instituted statewide planningmeasures to manage its urban growth and to protectits prime farmland from conversion. This bookanalyzes effects of uncertainty, planning measures,urban uses on Christmas trees and horticulturalfarming in Portland Metropolitan periphery. AGIS-based-Hedonic Thunian Land Value and a DiscreteChoice model show that planning measures may havedifferent impacts for farming dependent on theirlocations. The study also sheds light on effects ofaccess to local markets, urban land uses,externalities, uncertainty, and expectations on landuse value and choice.
